Location: Costa Mesa, CA (On-Site)

Schedule: Monday-Friday | Non-Exempt

Compensation: $45 - $81 per hour (DOE)


General Job Description

This position is responsible for independently delivering high-quality structural engineering services, demonstrating a proven track record of excellence from conceptual design through construction completion. The Senior Structural Engineer will lead complex projects, provide technical expertise, and collaborate closely with internal and external partners to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as an expert in project planning, coordination, and execution for large, complex projects or multiple concurrent projects.
  • Independently complete conceptual design through construction drawing development with minimal oversight.
  • Engage appropriately with engineering applications and management in key technical and project decisions.
  • Proactively communicate and coordinate designs with Project Management, Construction, Service, Controls, and other trade partners.
  • Provide field engineering support including trade coordination, scheduling, document management, and troubleshooting as required.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and project team members at all levels.
  • Apply expert-level knowledge of building codes, structural guidelines, and industry best practices.
  • Manage time effectively to meet project schedules, milestones, and deadlines.
  • Apply and uphold engineering standards and project execution processes.

Structural & Engineering Design Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment anchorage calculations and prepare PE wet-stamped installation packages, including Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Perform equipment vibration isolation calculations and prepare PE wet-stamped installation packages, including BOM.
  • Design rooftop duct and pipe supports and produce PE-stamped installation packages with BOM.
  • Design riser duct and pipe supports with PE-stamped installation packages.
  • Perform seismic restraint calculations for duct and piping systems.
  • Verify existing roof structures for equipment replacement projects.
  • Perform structural design of equipment skids.
  • Design supplemental steel for equipment, duct, and pipe supports, including BOM.
  • Develop templates and standardized designs for supports, attachments, and seismic bracing to drive efficiency, scalability, and cost-effective installation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license highly desirable; must be able to obtain licensure within a short period of time if not currently licensed.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural design.
  • Excellent understanding of engineering and structural design fundamentals.
  • Strong familiarity with building codes and industry standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of seismic bracing, attachment design, and supplemental support design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit (or similar drafting software) preferred.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software to develop design and installation packages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight while contributing to a highly collaborative team.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Work Hours

  • Non-exempt position, Monday through Friday
  • Typical start time between 7:00-8:00 AM; end time between 4:00-5:00 PM
  • One-hour lunch break and two rest breaks daily
  • Occasional overtime may be required based on business needs

Competitive Wages

$45 - $81 per hour

Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, education, training, and work location. Compensation is one component of a comprehensive total rewards package.
